Maya is currently in post as a Clinical Quality and Assurance Lead, for the Clinical Procurement and Quality Assurance Team of the NHS Supply Chain, driving quality, safety, and innovation as well as supporting savings initiatives. Maya also remains active in the clinical setting, as an Honorary Nurse Practitioner for Vascular Access and IV Therapy.
She has over 2 decades of experience in clinical practice including various leadership roles, where she became interested and passionate about Vascular Access. Maya started work in a national role with Department of Health and Social Care in 2018. Prior to this she worked as a Vascular Access CNS & Deputy Service Lead at Frimley Park Hospital NHS FT where she was also instrumental in supporting the development of the IV Access Service.
Maya migrated to the UK from the Philippines in 2002, holding a double degree in Nursing and Physical Therapy. She is qualified as an Independent Non-medical prescriber (NMP) and is currently working on completing her MSc in Patient Safety at University of Oxford.
Maya has presented at national and international conferences in the field of vascular access. She is on the BJN IV Supplement Editorial Board, NIVAS Board Member and Treasurer.
