Maya is currently in post as a Clinical Specialist Lead for NHS Supply Chain, driving quality, safety, and innovation as well as supporting value-based procurement and other savings initiatives. Maya also remains active in the clinical setting, as an Honorary Nurse Practitioner for Vascular Access and IV Therapy.
She has over 2 decades of experience in clinical practice both in medical & surgical field, in various leadership roles including as a Senior Sister in Orthopaedics, where she became interested and passionate about Vascular Access.
Maya started work in a national role with Department of Health and Social Care in 2018. Prior to this she worked as a Vascular Access CNS & Deputy Service Lead at Frimley Park Hospital NHS FT where she was instrumental in supporting the development of the IV Access Service.
Maya migrated to the UK from the Philippines in 2002, holding a double degree in Nursing and Physical Therapy. She is qualified as an Independent Non-medical prescriber (NMP), with Post -graduate Diploma (PGD) in Healthcare Practice. She has recently completed her post-graduate studies (PGC) in Patient Safety and continuous to pursue her master's degree (MSc) at the University of Oxford.
Maya has presented at national and international conferences in the field of vascular access. She is a visiting lecturer at University of Surrey, member of the BJN IV Supplement Editorial Board, and NIVAS Board Member and Treasurer.
