Heather Briscoe

Heather Briscoe’s nursing career began in 2008 in Western Australia where she qualified as an Enrolled Nurse.  Heather worked in a rural nurse-led hospital where the medical needs were serviced by the local GP’s supported by the air and road ambulance service for transfer to tertiary facilities when required.  Heather returned to the UK where she qualified as a Registered Adult nurse in 2014 and worked at Salford Royal in Ageing and Complex Medicine until moving into the community in 2015.  Here she achieved a band 6 position, started placing Midlines in patient’s homes as part of the Rapid Response team and helped to facilitate the amalgamation of the Home and Outpatient Parenteral Therapy team to part of the integrated care services for the community.  Heather moved into a specialist role that included PICC placement as part of the hospital IV Access Team in 2019 and was promoted to team clinical lead in 2020.  At the end of 2022 she moved to Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to launch a new nurse-led vascular access service including placement of mid-long term devices as well as audit and education. The service was implemented in early 2023 and has been recognised as an extremely beneficial service for both patients and staff.
